27 Appointees of Uhuru Face Cracking of the Whip from Ruto in Latest Changes

In a significant shake-up, President William Ruto has replaced a total of 15 individuals from the leadership of state corporations. The changes, effected through a Gazette Notice dated Friday, February 24, 2023, saw the appointment of the President’s close allies and new board members.

Among those appointed are former Member of Parliament Sylvanus Maritim, who will serve as a non-executive chairperson of the Information and Communications Technology Authority; Ugas Mohamed as the board chairperson of the Capital Markets Authority, and Muyumba Simmon Indimuli as the Secretary of the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC).

Ruto also appointed Reverend James Bassy, the chairperson of Talai Council of Elders, and former Emgwen MP Elijah Lagat to the Board of the Kenya Cultural Centre Council and National Campaign Against Drug Abuse Authority (Nacada) respectively.

At the same time, Labour CS Florence Bore appointed Isaac Kaberia and Milkah Kimonda as trustees of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), while Trade CS Moses Kuria appointed five members to the board of the National Standards Council.
